Integrity

I strut through the classroom carrying
an internal load of angst undetected
My new black shoes are shiny on the surface
but hot and bumpy on my feet

integers are about wholeness
gravity is inescapable
things naturally fall to earth
apples from the tree disintegrate

I emerge from a daily hole
less whole but sleepily awakening
none the less
more than none, not done
I am alive
